‘Such is HER Life’ is a compilation of the author’s musings which are mostly focused on women. Reecha talks about the various problems a girl has to face in her lifetime, from discrimination to taunting to being forced to act a certain way because she was born as a girl. Since this book is written from a woman’s perspective, to some readers, the views expressed in the book might seem biased but let me tell you that the thoughts conveyed by the author are likely to evince the same convictions as the text in a reader.
Following the different nuances of life, especially of “her” life, Reecha speaks from a woman’s perspective under pregnable circumstances. Embodying the personas of a girl child, sister, wife, mother and any active roles that a woman may face in her life, she articulates and enunciates the experiences that these women personas may have.
The quotes are uncompromising of what “her” actual life might be and Goyal is forthright with her declarations. The utterances may be short and compact but sometimes it is the shortest sentences that accommodates so much meaning.
There really isn’t much to talk about narration or construction here, neither is there a sequential list of events or a specific story. Reecha has enumerated the different stages of a woman’s life and the different phases that she has to undergo. The quotes are bold and tells so much in just a few words.
I don’t have any words other than reassuring you won’t be disappointed in this book. I usually don’t read much of poetry or any form of verse narratives but ‘Such is Her Life’ was an exception and I am mighty pleased with my decision.
